OUR PLEDGE TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire – or to put it in a more modern context: Where things are manufactured, energy is consumed and emissions are generated. Our pledge: We do everything possible to keep the burden on the environment and employees as low as possible. By purchasing 100% green electricity for all of our processes, we reveal ourselves as a pioneer in terms of future-oriented production. And thanks to a whole raft of other measures we take, we improve our ecological and social footprint on a daily basis. Through our consistent sustainability measures we want to inspire other companies also to take action. Because there’s just the one Earth.

Energy
Know why
ENERGY MANAGEMENT IS A TOP PRIORITY AT KRAMPEHAREX.

Thanks to the KrampeHarex® Energy Management System designed in accordance with DIN 50001, we can guarantee enterprises economical and sustainable use of energy. The electricity for all of our business units comes 100% from certified renewable sources. We purchase carbon-free hydroelectric power from the fjords of Norway and generate our own electricity using solar PV panels installed on our buildings.

From the production processes to LED lighting, we believe in deploying highly efficient processes and effective, economical technologies in all of our business units.  Over the past six years, we have succeeded in improving our energy balance. In this way, we guarantee that we use renewable energy – which is also a precious resource – as economically as possible.

Mobility
Know why
WE’RE THRIFTY IN EVERY WAY.

As a general rule, we obtain our raw materials and, wherever possible, supply our international clients not by road but by ship, inland waterway vessel or freight train – because these are comparatively green means of transport. This enables us to meet particularly strict environmental requirements without compromising punctuality. We also promote eco-friendly mobility within our company: We use the latest generation engines in all of our vehicles, e.g. in our electric forklifts. Our fleet of company cars includes BMW I3 plug-in hybrids.  These are run on green electricity, while their manufacture also satisfies sustainability criteria. Through our work bikes programme, we encourage our employees to lease cycles. A large number of colleagues are already demonstrating their sustainability and health credentials by cycling to work every day – helping to reduce carbon emissions.

Know why
WE’RE IMPROVING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE ACROSS THE BOARD.

We take great care to ensure that not only our own manufacturing processes are environment-friendly, but those of our suppliers, too. We purchase the wire rod for the production of our fibres and abrasive media only from select, certified suppliers. These suppliers are incredibly committed to limiting their emissions in all environmentally relevant areas, such as air, water, soil, noise and waste. They undertake to use resources responsibly and to significantly reduce their own energy consumption. Through numerous measures such as scrap recycling and innovative energy-saving technologies, our suppliers help to our improve our holistically conceived environmental performance. And of course we also ensure we follow an in-house, environment-friendly disposal logistics policy, including waste separation and recycling, and use green and low-emission technologies, e.g. for our compressed-air systems.

Know why
WE THINK ECOLOGICALLY AND SOCIALLY AT THE SAME TIME.

Since we operate globally and manufacture within a global network, not only is environmental compatibility an important criterion for us, but social standards, too. As part of our collaboration with our suppliers, we pay attention to the quality of their working conditions and their observance of human rights. At home in our own company, we also take special precautions to protect the health of our employees. In the area of abrasive-media and fibre production, we have installed isolated, noise-reducing chambers that far exceed conventional standards. At the same time, a dust exhaust system and a fresh water supply have also been installed in these chambers. As a result, our employees’ exposure to noise and dust pollution has been noticeably and audibly reduced across all production shifts.
