GP Papenburg relies on short distances

GP Papenburg is a family-run construction company that has been carrying out road, civil engineering, and building construction projects for over 50 years. With a strong focus on sustainability, the company contributes to infrastructure development in Germany.

GP sources most of its cement and gravel regionally in order to reduce emissions and secure supply. For concrete production, cement containing granulated blast furnace slag with a reduced CO₂ footprint is used, which reduces CO₂ emissions and conserves resources.

The new location in the south of Bremen serves to open up new market areas in the region and to efficiently supply existing projects on a regional basis. Modern mixing technologies, optimized formulations, and short transport routes thus strengthen the construction industry without compromising on quality.

The most sustainable fibre manufacturer

in the world

Our fibres perform significantly better than those of other manufacturers in terms of greenhouse gas potential. This is due to our end-to-end approach, which requires the economical use of resources from raw material procurement to fibre shipping.

In addition, we source 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy sources and generate a significant portion of our own energy needs thanks to our photovoltaic system. This makes us the most sustainable fiber manufacturer in the world, and we are very proud of that.

Working together for climate-friendly concrete -

GP Betonwerke and KrampeHarex

The use of steel fibres from KrampeHarex instead of conventional steel bar reinforcement or fibres from other manufacturers is a logical step towards resource-efficient construction in this project. The choice of DE 60/0.9 N from KrampeHarex not only reduces the amount of steel required, but also significantly lowers the CO₂ footprint of the concrete. C30/37 concrete was used with a dosage of 30 kg of steel fibres per m³ for a total volume of around 325 m³.

This combination results in concrete that meets the requirements for durability and load-bearing capacity while also making a significant contribution to climate protection thanks to the steel fibres from KrampeHarex.

Compared to steel fibres from other manufacturers, 22 tons of CO₂ were saved, which corresponds to approximately 169 car trips from Bremen to Berlin. This project shows how modern material selection can significantly improve the CO₂ balance in concrete construction and pave the way for climate-friendly building without compromising technical performance.

KrampeHarex -

naturally sustainable

KrampeHarex pursues a consistent and transparent sustainability strategy on its journey toward durable and climate-friendly concrete. When sourcing raw materials, KrampeHarex relies on recycled wire rod from Western European sources, which is transported to its Hamm site by rail or ship in a resource-efficient manner.

Further processing is carried out using electricity from the company's own PV system and is supplemented by 100% green electricity from wind and hydro power. Many other measures contribute to KrampeHarex being considered the most sustainable steel fiber producer in the world today.
